Welcome to Content Creator Counsel!
I’m Kristen, and I’ll be your instructor over the coming weeks or months. I’ve been an attorney and business advisor for almost twenty years, working closely with content creators, influencers, and other entertainment-industry professionals, and also with the major companies and smaller brands that want to engage them (and you!) for marketing campaigns, sponsorship deals, advertisements, and public appearances.
In this course, you'll learn the practical legal, operational, managerial, and financial skills and concepts you need to turn your content into a real business… all for the cost of less than one billable hour of my time. I’m looking forward to seeing you in class!
What is Content Creator Counsel?
Law & Business for Content Creators is a series of six course modules, designed to be equivalent to a semester-long university-level course in substance and depth. You will learn:
- How to define your niche, grow your brand, and set healthy boundaries with your audience.
- Business and tax basics, including how to limit your liability through an LLC and how to track your income and expenses to avoid challenges from the IRS.
- How to spot scammers and sketchy brand deals, as well as how to navigate messy situations and online drama like a pro.
- How to analyze and negotiate different types of influencer contracts, balance content creation with your regular job, and work smarter with agents, assistants, and brands.
- Foundational concepts in intellectual property law, including how to protect your own content and brand through copyright and trademark protection, and how to avoid infringing on the IP rights of others.
- How to monetize you content legally, ethically, and confidently, through brand deals, affiliate links, your own products, and other opportunities.
Each module is also available for individual purchase through the links below.
Note: the six-course bundle provides access to additional videos, a final exam with detailed explanations, and other bonus content, all at a significant discount compared to buying each module individually.
